Use Comments and Collaborate
Add a comment
- Select the text you want to comment on
- Click the comment icon in the toolbar or press
Cmd+Shift+M/Ctrl+Shift+M - Type your comment and press Enter
The selected text is highlighted and linked to the comment thread.
Reply to a thread
Click the highlighted text or the comment in the Comments Panel on the right side. Type a reply in the thread and press Enter.
Resolve a thread
Mark a thread as resolved when the discussion is complete. Resolved threads can be hidden or shown using the filter in the Comments Panel.
React to comments
Click the reaction button on any comment to add an emoji reaction. Reactions are visible to all collaborators.
Mention people
Type @ in a comment to mention a user. Set up your own @handle in Settings → User.
Use comments for personal notes
Comments are valuable even for solo use:
- Mark areas needing research with a question
- Flag sections to revisit with a TODO
- Add background context without cluttering the main text
- Leave self-review feedback while editing

How comments sync
Comments use CRDTs like everything else in NoteCove — they sync across devices, work offline, and merge without conflicts. Comments are stored alongside your notes and never leave your devices except through file sync.
