Privacy Policy

Privacy Summary

  • Your notes and tasks are stored locally on your device or in cloud storage you control.
  • We do not access, collect, or transmit your note or task contents.
  • Metrics and diagnostics are off by default and opt-in only.
  • We do not sell personal data and do not use advertising trackers.

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how NoteCove (“the App”), developed by Andrew Csillag (“we”), handles information when you use it.

The App is a desktop application for personal note-taking and task tracking. It is designed to function fully offline and without creating user accounts.

2. Information We Collect

a. User Content

The App stores notes, tasks, and related data either:

  • Locally on your device, or
  • In cloud storage that you configure and control (for example, a synced folder provided by a third-party service)

We do not have access to this data. User content is not transmitted to our servers.

b. Metrics and Diagnostics (Opt-In)

If you explicitly enable metrics collection, the App collects limited usage and diagnostic information using Datadog. This may include:

  • Application version
  • Operating system and basic device characteristics
  • Feature usage events (for example, which features are used, not what content is created)
  • Performance metrics and error or crash information

Metrics collection is disabled by default and can be enabled or disabled at any time in the App settings.

c. Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect:

  • Names, email addresses, or account information
  • Authentication credentials for cloud storage providers
  • The contents of notes or tasks
  • Payment or billing information
  • Advertising identifiers

3. How We Use Information

If metrics collection is enabled, we use the collected information solely to:

  • Monitor application stability and performance
  • Diagnose bugs and crashes
  • Improve features and usability

We do not use metrics data for advertising, profiling, or cross-service tracking.

4. Data Sharing and Processors

We do not sell, rent, or share personal information for marketing purposes.

If metrics collection is enabled, limited data is processed by Datadog as a service provider acting on our behalf. Datadog processes this data under contractual obligations consistent with applicable data protection laws.

We may disclose information if required to do so by law or legal process.

5. Data Storage and Retention

  • User content remains on your device or in cloud storage you control.
  • Metrics and diagnostic data, if enabled, are retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for operational and analytical purposes.

6. Your Choices and Rights

You can:

  • Use the App entirely offline
  • Use the App without enabling metrics collection
  • Enable or disable metrics collection at any time in settings

Depending on your location, you may have legal rights to access, delete, or restrict processing of personal data. Because we collect minimal data and no user accounts are required, most rights can be exercised by disabling metrics collection.

7. Data Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect any data we process. Data stored locally or in third-party cloud storage is subject to the security practices of your device and chosen provider.

8. Children’s Privacy

The App is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be posted with a revised “Last updated” date.
