Keep Data Available Offline
If your NoteCove storage directory lives inside a cloud-synced folder, the cloud provider may silently evict local copies of files to save disk space. When files are cloud-only, NoteCove cannot read them — this breaks sync.
NoteCove detects this automatically and shows a warning when you open or add a storage directory inside a cloud folder.
Fix per provider
iCloud Drive
Click Keep Downloaded in the NoteCove dialog. NoteCove will:
- Download any evicted files immediately
- Mark the storage directory as “always keep local” so iCloud won’t evict it again
You can also disable eviction globally: System Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → iCloud Drive → turn off Optimize Mac Storage.
Google Drive
Click Keep Downloaded in the NoteCove banner. This sets the com.google.drivefs.pinned attribute so Google Drive always keeps the files local.
Alternatively, switch Google Drive for Desktop to Mirror files mode in its preferences.
Dropbox
Click Show Instructions in the NoteCove banner, then:
- Open the Dropbox app from your menu bar
- Navigate to your NoteCove folder
- Right-click → Make available offline
OneDrive
Click Show Instructions in the NoteCove banner, then:
- Open OneDrive from your menu bar or Finder sidebar
- Navigate to your NoteCove folder
- Right-click → Always keep on this device
