Apple Shortcuts & Siri

NoteCove integrates with Apple Shortcuts and Siri on iOS and macOS, letting you create notes, manage tasks, search your library, and control folders — all without opening the app.

Quick-start with Siri

Five shortcuts are pre-configured for Siri and the Shortcuts app on both platforms:

  • “Create a note in NoteCove” (also: “Add a note”, “New note”) — prompts for a title, creates the note, and returns it.
  • “Find notes in NoteCove” (also: “Search notes”) — returns notes matching your search term.
  • “Create a task in NoteCove” (also: “Add a task”, “New task”) — prompts for a title and project, creates the task.
  • “What’s ready in NoteCove” (also: “Show ready tasks”) — returns tasks with no remaining blockers, ordered by priority.
  • “Find note by title in NoteCove” — exact-title lookup, useful when you know what you’re looking for.

Building automations

All 28 actions are available in the Shortcuts app under the NoteCove section. You can chain them with other actions — for example:

  • Capture the current Safari page title → Create Note with that title
  • Get clipboard content → Append to Note
  • Morning reminder → Get Ready Tasks → speak the list
  • End-of-day → Find Tasks filtered by project → log to a note

Content formats

When creating or editing note and task content, you can choose between:

  • Plain text — simple unformatted text, appended or inserted as-is
  • Markdown — headings, bold, lists, and links are rendered in the editor

Storage locations

If you have multiple storage locations (Dropbox, iCloud, etc.), actions that create new content default to your active storage location. You can specify a different location by passing a folder that belongs to it.

Cross-location moves are not supported — a note can only be moved to a folder within the same storage location.

Examples

  • Link to notes from anywhere on macOS — build a “Make NoteCove Link” shortcut that generates shareable links to notes by title, and a “Find Note” shortcut that opens them. Paste links into Calendar, Mail, or any app.

Tips

  • Get Ready Tasks is the fastest way to start your day: it surfaces tasks with no blockers, filtered by priority.
  • Use Find Notes followed by Show Note to open a specific note by search result.
  • The Append to Note action is ideal for quick capture: combine it with the iOS Share Sheet or macOS Quick Actions to send web content directly into a running note.
  • Pin Note works great as part of a “mark for review” shortcut — find the note, then pin it.
  • On macOS, all Shortcuts actions work even when the NoteCove window is closed, as long as Desktop is running.
