Import Notes
Import Markdown files
- Select File → Import Markdown… (or
Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+I) - Choose a single file or an entire folder
- Configure import options:
- Target folder: where to place imported notes
- Structure: preserve folder hierarchy or flatten all notes into one folder
- Container folder: optionally wrap imports in a new folder
- Duplicates: skip existing notes with the same title, or rename with a suffix
- Click Import
Supported Markdown features
NoteCove handles headings, bold/italic/strikethrough, inline code, code blocks with syntax highlighting, blockquotes, horizontal rules, bullet/numbered/task lists, tables with alignment, images (local files are copied into storage; external URLs are preserved), wikilinks ([[Note Title]] and [[Note Title#Heading]]), hashtags, and YAML frontmatter.
YAML frontmatter
NoteCove reads frontmatter to restore metadata:
---
pinned: true
created: 1700000000000
modified: 1700000001000
folder: /Projects/Work
---
Import modes
- Preserve structure: recreates your original folder hierarchy inside NoteCove
- Flatten: places all notes in the target folder, ignoring the source hierarchy
- Container folder: wraps all imported content in a new folder named after the source
Duplicate handling
- Skip: keeps the existing note, skips the import
- Rename: appends a suffix like “(2)”, “(3)“
