iOS Widgets
NoteCove includes two iOS home screen and lock screen widgets that put your most important content and actions one tap away.
iOS only. Widgets require the NoteCove iOS app.
Smart Folder Widget
The Smart Folder widget shows the notes and tasks that match a Smart Folder’s filters — keeping your most relevant items visible without opening the app.
What it shows
- An icon and the folder name in the header (toggle off via “Show Title” in widget settings)
- A list of matching notes and tasks, each with a title and optional preview
- Tasks show a coloured state dot (matching the task state colour from your project)
Tap behaviour
- Tap the title — opens the app and navigates directly to that Smart Folder
- Tap an item — opens the app and jumps to that note or task

Item counts adjust automatically when the title is shown or hidden.
Configuration
Long-press the widget and tap Edit Widget to configure:
- Smart Folder — choose which Smart Folder to display. Defaults to the first available folder if none is selected.
- Show Title — toggle the folder name and icon header on or off. Useful on small widgets where you want to maximise item count.
Refresh rate
The widget refreshes every 15 minutes. Items are read directly from the local database — no network required.
Quick Add Task Widget
The Quick Add Task widget is a one-tap shortcut for adding a new task. Tapping anywhere on the widget opens the NoteCove task creation form, optionally pre-selecting a project.
What it shows
- A “Add Task” label with a teal plus icon
- The configured project name, or “Tap to add a task” if no project is selected
Tap behaviour
Tapping anywhere on the widget opens the app and immediately presents the new task form. If a project is configured, it is pre-selected in the form.

Configuration
Long-press the widget and tap Edit Widget to configure:
- Project — choose which project new tasks are added to. Leave unset to pick a project each time.
Adding Widgets
- Long-press your home screen or lock screen
- Tap the + button (top-left)
- Search for NoteCove
- Choose Smart Folder or Quick Add Task
- Select a size and tap Add Widget
- Long-press the placed widget and tap Edit Widget to configure it
